It being Australia Day tomorrow and all, it felt fitting to take a look at a good old aussie icon which seems to be popping up in interiors all over the place.
So todays friday favourite is the loud and proud cockatoo…..
I have seen the image of the cockatoo used in many ways lately, lamps, cushion, lamp shades, ceramics, wallpaper..and mixed into both adult and childrens interiors …it may just be the whole bird trend evolving..designers looking for new bird forms to feature, god knows we have seen enough of owls. Also keep a look out for flamingos and toucans which also seem to popping up but we may go there another time.
Although I found so many cockatoo related products for my nursery inspiration board I felt that I would keep it simple..I think you only need a dash of cockatoo. The wallpaper is understated ( Florence Broadhurst no less) and on trend in colour and the lamp just adds a quirky touch of kitsch humour.
So as we get set for the long weekend, what do you have planned?
I am having a beautiful friend come to visit which I am really looking forward to. We can just chat and have a nice glass of vino..she is one of those people who just really knows who you are and you can share freely. She is actually the one who encouraged me to start up this blog. Thanks Miss A!!
We have fireworks happening nearby so we will be able to enjoy front row seats from our new deck area..Cam is already looking forward to it.
For those you you who may be overseas, Australia Day is often associated with beach visits, bbq, eating lamb, pavlova, lamingtons, wearing and waving aussie flags..and what aussies love most of all is a long weekend.
So whatever you have planned just kick back, enjoy and remember how lucky we really are to live in Australia.
