So have you noticed a lot of green around this year.. lets look at green in children’s nursery design.
Lets talk nursery trends for 2017……
The year has gotten away but lets look at what’s trending in children’s interiors this year and beyond.
1. Metallics and Rose Gold. Expect to see a lot more particularly on larger items like cots. Our latest range Modern vintage was photographed on this Incy Interiors cot and it looks just divine.

I’ve been in the studio lately and I’ve been busy.
Getting back to basics of what I do and assessing what I love about Alphabet Monkey.
Are you hesitant to buy something online?
Not sure your purchase will be perfect once you get it home?
We understand what it’s like to be expecting and to be nesting. Sometimes its hard when we can’t touch and feel something in person before we buy. AND we totally understand the importance to you to create a special place to bond and spend time with your little one.
The last thing we want is for a customer to feel stuck with something they don’t love in their nursery. We want to to come in , sit down and look around and just LOVE all the special pieces you’ve curated for this special space.
SOO we want to offer you peace of mind with our DREAM NURSERY GUARANTEE.
If you don’t love it just send it back to us in original packaging within 7 days and get a full refund. We’ve actually always had this policy but never gave it a name till now. We realised that you aren’t mind readers :p so we wanted to make sure you know this.
And over all these years we’ve never had one returned..even from the nervous mums to be who we certainly told them they could return it…they NEVER did.
Thats why we are confident that you will never need to use our Dream Nursery Guarantee but its nice to know it’s there.
Is it February already?
With a new year we have lots of new ranges coming to share with you so it’s time to discontinue some of our current ranges.
Firstly we have our gorgeous green Teepee colour way which has now been added to our SALE section.
Prices are up to 60% off , while stocks last so don’t wait around.
I’m loving our latest photos of our gorgeous girls range Boho Princess which features teepees and arrows.
And we will soon have a king single size quilt available too for the big girls.
Since it’s Black Friday…I thought we should take some time to think black in the nursery.
When I first started Alphabet Monkey in 2010, black was a colour I started adding to my designs as mums were looking away from traditional colours. And today..well I think we all know the monochrome trend is huge.
But are you brave enough to actually paint a wall black? Especially a nursery wall?
Check out these gorgeous examples and I guarantee you will be won over with black feature walls in the nursery.
The dark colour actually has an effect of receding so it looks further away creating an illusion of more space..not closing it in as some people may assume.
White and colour really pops against this deep base.
How pretty yet minimal is this space for a little girl..it feels far from stark.
I personally think the rooms with timber and textured rugs are my favourites..it really create a lot of interest against the strength of the black base.
So, what do you think?
Have I won you over?
Although pastels are trending again in nurseries, I don’t think black is going anywhere soon. You could also do a similar style with navy which could work equally well in boys or girls spaces.
I’ve been loving the whole rustic adventure theme coming through in boys nurseries and bedrooms for a while and with the recent arrival of our first Mountain inspired range I thought I should put together a little inspiration board.
I think it’s a look that can be minimalist and monochrome or quite rustic with lots of textures.
I think you really must introduce some wood into the space..these tree stump stools or little tables are just perfect. I think they look great painted too .
Our In the Wild Range features mountains, bears and arrows, all of which look fantastic mixed into this theme.
I’ve also put together a few boards on pinterest where you can find our sources and also other inspiration for your mountain adventure themed nursery or boys room.
You can find our pinterest boards HERE
Just FYI .. you can easily create a mountain feature on your wall like we did by using wash tape..or actually I’ve just done another using electricians tape in black..it seems to come off the wall easily without taking the paint off.. great if you are renting.
