Make it little part 2

Belinda at Nest Design Studio has been at it again with her second installment of the new Make it Little series where she translates grown up interiors into nursery spaces.

This one features a Greg Natale interior, he is a well known Aussie interior designer and the result is a soft yet contemporary look with a bit of an Aussie slant ..love the wallpaper with the cockatoos. And seriously who wouldn’t love that chair!

And the owls keep coming..

Lots of new product is arriving every week to keep me busy at work. And as I was distributing some new decorator items today I realized how many new owl products we have…even though many are looking for the ‘new owl’ ( which I personally think is the fox…or even a hedgehog cause I’ve seen a few around too..lol)..there still seems to be a huge consumer appetite for the wise little creatures.
So I snapped a few pics of some the winter 2012 products featuring owls..and this is just the tip of the iceberg!!

New Season Bedding Style

We have just finished making over the store that I work in and it is looking better than it has in a long time. I am happy about my decision to return for now as it seems a much better vibe than when I left.
There are lots of new looks for winter which I will share over the coming weeks , when something catches my eye but today I thought I’d share a few of the newly styled bedrooms. a team came to revamp the store so I am not personally responsible for all pics shown.

neon brights brighten up the winter palette.

I love the pattern and colour in this quilt cover..mixed with bronze and leather and animal prints it is an exotic mix inspired by world travels.

Industrial style..raw hessians and burlap, retro pieces , timber and the ever popular union jack..I have a feeling with the London Olympics just round the corner we haven’t seen the last of it yet.

Chevron chic for the nursery

Chevron is trending everywhere, especially in nurseries.

In the similar theme to my recent post showing adult interior schemes transformed into nurseries..I thought it would be great to share this post from Nest Design Studio.
I have been following Belinda on Facebook for a little while now and love seeing her unique product and mood boards that she comes up with for her clients. She specialises in children’s interiors and you can commission a custom design online ..got to love the internet!!
In the first of her Make it Little series she has provided some items for a truly chic nursery inspired from a Jonathan Adler Hollywood Regency style interior.
I love it….and I hope you do too.

Cloud quilt

I was just going back through some old emails and found the link to the day my quilt was featured on the apartment therapy website. If you havent heard of this site it a huge US website and blog featuring all things design, interiors related. This was so exciting and I only discovered it at the time through a Facebook friend. so I thought I’d bring you up to date with some of my media in the next few weeks.

You can check out the cloud feature on apartment therapy here

That particular quilt has gone to a lovely new home but I have found that the grey and aqua combination has been quite a popular one..probably as it is good for a unisex or boys room. I mean I think it’s fine for a girl too..don’t get me wrong..

Yellow and Aqua Nursery

Since we were just looking at the yellow and aqua elephant quilt I thought I’d add some cute nursery pics I found on pinterest to get you inspired.
I think a lot of people used to think of it as the boring kind of colors you have to choose from if you don’t know the sex of your baby..same goes for baby clothes, however I think these are great looking rooms in their own right. my client who ordered the elephant quilt knew she was having a boy and chose this scheme anyway much to her friends confusion..well I think she is onto something.

these rooms have a relaxed feel to them and a lot of different colors mix in well which means you can keep your options open without being boring.

Storm Cloud Baby Quilts

We have talked a bit about the black , grey and yellow color schemes about and I have shown you my little inspiration pics for my storms quilts…well finally they are done and now listed in my etsy shop.
I was really happy with how they turned out..nice to do something different and just one off every so often to keep the creative juices flowing.

I think they could look great in one of the nurseries we have featured on here or in a room with a nice strong yellow wall maybe with some funky cloud wall stickers.

Scandinavian Nursery Style

Scandinavian style nursery

What a striking and stylish scandinavian nursery ..I just had to share it with you. Loving the modern design and the mix of textures from the rustic wooden steps to the soft woolly rug. To upkeep this kind of minimal style I would definitely need a dedicated toy room as I feel like we are being overrun by toys lately.

The key to recreating this minimal scandi look in white is to add plenty of texture to create interest. Just as they have done here to add the softness of the sheepskin and also the texture and rustic feel of the timber step and black board.

Nursery style..grey and yellow

I’ve been working on some styles that are featuring the in vogue color combo of grey and yellow, corn, lemon, citron …
yellow has been on the radar of designers for quite a few years now but I think there comes a point when the consumer is ready to accept and judging by these beautiful interiors many people are loving it and incorporating it into their homes. I have put together some beautiful interiors and how their color palettes can translate into a nursery.

firstly we have a softer version of the color palette followed by examples of nurseries..it gives a soft yet contemporary look. followed by a stronger heavier look with more black black and a strong yellow. You can see it used well in the last nursery where it has created a cutting edge look.
