In the Wild..Mountain Quilt Range

In the Wild Range featuring Mountain Quilt and Roary the Bear. Limited edition. www.blog.alphabetmonkey.com.au

Hot on the heels of our recent look at the Mountain mural trend,  I’m excited to share with you our new range, In the Wild.

Your little wild one will love imagining climbing mountains and chance encounters with roaring bears (well our Roary is more cute than scary but don’t tell him that),  and cuddling up next to pretend campfires with his hand stitched mountain quilt.  Get him a name cushion to finish the look which will grow with him from the cot to the big bed.

In signature Alphabet Monkey style we love to create fresh and contemporary looks with our patchwork, we love mixing our arrows with our geometrics and we love to see how you mix it up too.

They are destined to become a keepsake that will always remind you of these baby days.

Our cot quilts are made in an XL size which is 100cm x 130cm.  This will fit any cot you have so don’t worry about the sizing.

You can create a mountain on your wall too with a roll of masking tape.  I had this blue tape in my cupboard and  did a quick DIY on the wall. So easy yet such an effective look…Why not give it a go?

We know how much you love the Roary Range in black so we are bringing him in grey to complement the blues of the Mountain quilt.  Perfect for gender neutral looks or to add some black if you love monochrome.

For extra warmth we recommend layering up with our Cotton jersey cot blanket.  Pictured below  our cot blanket is perfect from birth as you can tuck baby in tightly as per SIDS guidelines and it will grow with him.  We also use ours as a travel blanket, play mat, tv watching blankie (for me that it).

Alphabet Monkey turns 2

alphabet Monkey turns two

This week Alphabet Monkey turned two….

I kind of can’t believe it. The time has gone by so fast and Alphabet Monkey has grown so much. Way more than I could have envisaged back in 2010 when my little guy was six months old and I was loving being a stay at home mum. For some reason I decided to open a little Etsy shop selling alphabet singlets and cushions. You know I really don’t know how I came to discover Etsy, I wish I could remember because it has really changed my life.

Before I discovered I was pregnant..I had been feeling restless with life..I was looking around at other work options. Id always enjoyed my work but i had lost my creative spark…So I thought I’d use my year of maternity leave to just be..you know just take life as it comes with no pressures or commitments . I think having the space to do nothing creatively allowed the fire inside to reignite all on its own.

I think this is a good lesson that sometimes you need to cut off from things to allow new ideas to grow.

So how did I come to specialize in cot quilts for boys….well not long after I set up the online shop I had a discussion with a local childrens boutique owner who expressed interest in basically anything geared towards boys especially for nurseries and bedrooms. And so I guess that was the seed of the idea that has become Alphabet Monkey today.

I want to just express thanks to all the friends, family and lovely people out there who have supported me, encouraged me and loved my product. I would never have imagined being in this position a few years ago..I mean not so long ago I couldn’t even use a sewing machine….but I’m just going to open to let it evolve as my life continues to do the same.

I thought this little felt birthday cupcake was just perfect from Milk Fly and this sock monkey banner from Blue Moon Studios would be great for a monkey theme party. And ohh those gorgeous little monkey cupcakes are courtesy of Sweet Things
