Campbells Black and White room

Campbells black and white room..bedlinen by Alphabet Monkey

Hi, today I thought I’d share some pictures of Campbells big boy room. As you can see we managed to just squeeze in his bunk bed behind the door. I like this as it means when you look in his door you don’t see the bed taking over the whole room..as it is pretty tiny.

As you can imagine there is no shortage of bedlinen combos here…Today have mixed up a lot of black and white prints from both of my Storm and Ashkii ranges to keep an on trend monochrome look.

We kept it pretty simple with black, white and yellow.. as we had already installed the yellow retro style light fitting.  But as time has gone on we have added more colour..mainly from toys and things..its kind of impossible to keep those things out so you may as well work with it.

Teepee are very popular right now and they are a lot of fun for playing but also for resting and reading a book.  Campbell likes to surprise our dog Jasper who sneaks in here to have a little nap.  The little cane chair is actually one I had in my own room as a child.

Below is a super simple string line which we can peg up memories.

Mixing up the black and white raindrops and arrows and teepees.  This is actually the reverse of the Storm quilt.

Below are the super cute little runners given as a gift when he was born..too cute to part with.

This bunk is a lower than normal bunk. He sleeps up on top now but he was able to sleep on the bottom from when he was about two.  Now its a great place to read , play on the iPad etc.

The quilt on the bottom bunk is also the reverse to our Ashkii quilt cover..the one that features the green geometric print on the front.  So we can turn it over and mix things up whenever we feel like it.

Hope you enjoyed this little tour of Campbells room..I think this is the tidiest it had been in a long time.  I must confess I am one to just close the door and ignore the mess..there are better things to do I say.

You can find our cushions, bunting and bedlinen in our online store here.

Whats new??? Kids trends at Life Instyle 2013

The big trade show Life Instyle has been on this weekend in Sydney where exhibitors show the latest in homewares and interiors products, fashions and childrens products too. It looks pretty inspiring and I really should make the effort to attend next year as it looks like a lot of fun. I had been invited in the past to exhibit but at this stage I’m in such a small boutique production mode that I really wouldn’t be able to service a wholesale business. Maybe if I focus on one range or something but for now I like just selling direct to my lovely customers…But who knows what the future holds right??

I thought I’d share with you one of the daily installations that are put together in the Style Lab using products on site to reflect current trends.
And here is the kids one below….. Its a great mix of colour and pattern , hand made and rustic elements.

The bed is an upmarket version of the industrial/ vintage style beds that have been so popular..Check out the cot versions which I believe are available from Incy Interiors.   Perfect for those who want a little bit of glam, but I do think that they can be interpreted in a variety of ways for both boys and girls.

Woodland themes darken….

As we all know woodland themes featuring various animals, trees and birds especially owls have been particularly popular for baby nurseries and kids spaces for quite a while. You can see why people like it especially for a unisex design.
Well it looks like we are about to walk a bit deeper into the forest with trend predictors indicating a darker, more mysterious look..with more fierce animals like bears, raccoons, foxes and wolves and tree references becoming more gnarled.

This can be seen with this peek at the new range of kids home products being released by retailers H&M. It is part of the upcoming fall/winter 2012 collection ( northern hemisphere seasons remember). Apparently it will be available around July online which is still their summer so that’s a bit strange..anyway check it out..so cool.

The darker colors combinations are growing on me..I love the dark greens with the grayish blues and aqua with a dash of orange . It’s not really age specific so it could be interpreted in many ways for nurseries right through for little boys rooms. And that is great news for the mums of boys who so often find their decorating choices limited.

Storm Cloud Baby Quilts

We have talked a bit about the black , grey and yellow color schemes about and I have shown you my little inspiration pics for my storms quilts…well finally they are done and now listed in my etsy shop.
I was really happy with how they turned out..nice to do something different and just one off every so often to keep the creative juices flowing.

I think they could look great in one of the nurseries we have featured on here or in a room with a nice strong yellow wall maybe with some funky cloud wall stickers.
