Indis’ Black and White Nursery

Bear Quilt cover by www.blog.alphabetmonkey.com.au

Monochrome nurseries are popular for boys but how about adding a girly touch to our Bear bedding.

You may not have thought of using this for a girl but we just love this gorgeous black and white nursery belonging to a sweet little girl named Indi. It really shows how unisex this black and white linen can be.  And of course it doesn’t look like the monochromatic trend is going anywhere fast.

Indi has a very clever mum, Kat who happens to be the brains behind Chuck and Taz. If you haven’t pimped out your pram with a liner from Chuck and Taz you better head there now. They specialise in super cool pram liners in unisex prints for boys and girls.

So our Black Bear range is available in Quilt covers/duvet covers in both single bed and cot sizes.  It features the bear print of the top and the black arrow on the reverse.  We also have the co- ordinating cot fitted sheets available in bear, white arrow and black arrow prints which are extra large so they will fit your larger cot mattress like a boori.

Raaah!!!

We named this little guy Roary thanks to a suggestion on Instagram by one of our lovely followers.  He was hand drawn for us by Australian artist Pete Cromer. You can check out his work here.

Nostalgic toys – trend watch

alphabet monkey Arrow bedlinen with Sara Carr toy www.blog.alphabetmonkey.com.au

Ive noticed that crochet and knitted nursery toys has been a growing trend over the last few years and have often seen and admired the work of UK based Sara Carr whose quirky little creations have popped up in a many a nursery online.

I put the growth of this trend and its continued popularity down the notion that in todays digital world we all crave something more simple..from an earlier simpler time. This nostalgia makes us hungry for little reminders from the past.

So I couldn’t wait to order one of Saras’ creations for my new baby who will be here with us by the end of the month.  My son and I looked over her site and we chose this adorable little wolf.  And when he arrived I can tell you the quality and detail of this little guy was worth it.  So much so that at my sons insistence we ordered the larger orange fox for him which we had passed over earlier.  He loves it and has been sleeping with it ever since..

So I made up an ‘Into the Woods’ nursery board with a black and white scandi edge..a perfect little nursery to add your little wolf or fox to.  It features our Arrow bunting, quilt and teepee cushion which can all be found in our online shop.

Sheepskin from Ikea, Oeuf Sparrow cot in birch from Urbanbaby, Replica Eames Rocker from Matt Blatt.

And as I mentioned earlier, crochet is also very big.  I happened to receive this cute bunny all the way from Spain from super cute Marigurumi Shop on Etsy.  I highly recommend you check out her shop if you are looking for a unique baby gift.

Scandi Inspired Cross Quilt

Black and white nursery
black and white nursery

Introducing a new scandi inspired black and white patchwork quilt that I have just finished. Since so many of you requested the swedish cross in our Facebook competition, I have incorporated it into our own style. I have named it the Pia Scandi quilt.
While it is a bit busier than the simple cross blanket I feel that in a very basic nursery the pattern of the quilt can bring a bit of interest to an otherwise monochrome nursery. Anyway if you want that total simplicity you can just buy the actual blanket..which we discussed back here.

We also looked at some black and white children’s rooms back here..and here. It’s a trend which will continue to grow.

I’ve put it together with some other nursery ideas for you.
